Mecanoo photo exhibition at AIA Headquarter in Washington DC

01.07.2015 - Events

A photo exhibition of buildings designed by Mecanoo will be on display at the headquarters of the American Institute of Architects in Washington DC, from June 24 until November 20, 2015.
The exhibition gives a glimpse of Mecanoo’s impressive portfolio of designs realized all over the world.

Its highly multidisciplinary approach has resulted in a wide-ranging portfolio of designs including houses, neighbourhoods, skyscrapers, campuses, cities, schools, theatres, libraries, stations, museums and even a chapel.

The Bruce C. Bolling Building in Boston, a municipal office of great significance for the district of Roxbury, was opened in March 2015. Currently, the practice is leading the revitalization of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library in Washington DC.

Mecanoo does not have a form-based approach but rather a focus on people, place and purpose. This starts by observing. The next step is designing space for people, according to the place, understanding that the buildings’ purpose will unpredictably change over time. Above all, Mecanoo is searching to create identity in a world of globalization.
