June 12^th 2010, Francine Houben, Founding Partner and Creative Director of Mecanoo presented the first copy of La Llotja de Lleida to Angel Ros, the Mayor of Lleida. The book is a comprehensive presentation of the design of La Llotja de Lleida starting from the winning design competition entry through to the completed theatre and conference center and includes sketches, 3D animations and drawings and photographs taken by esteemed professional photographers. The book was launched during the Mecanoo Garden Party which took place inside La Llotja de Lleida and on its recently completed roof top terrace with 200 Spanish and International guests in attendance.
La Llotja de Lleida, designed by Mecanoo architecten in collaboration with labb arquitectura, is one of the most prestigious project in Catalunya, transforming Lleida into a cultural destination and providing a venue for opera, plays and congresses. The building was opened officially on March 23^rd, 2010 by King Juan Carlos and Queen Sophia of Spain.
