Dick van Gameren to speak at Z Axis Conference in India
Dick van Gameren will speak at the Z Axis Conference organised by the Charles Correa Foundation in Goa, India on Saturday 3 September. Entitled ‘Buildings As Ideas’, the conference will be a tribute to the memory of Charles Correa, focussing on buildings and the nature of the questions they raise.
Combining his work as an architect with a professorship at the Delft University of Technology, Dick maintains a critical approach to design by lecturing and publishing regularly, as well as making this research tangible in his design leadership as a Mecanoo partner. His portfolio includes large scale town planning, laboratories, education and healthcare project.
At Delft University of Technology, Dick leads an international education and research network which focuses on the problems of building affordable housing in the rapidly expanding cities of Africa and Asia.
By designing new housing typologies and community networks he aims to provide a fresh take on residential design; an example of this was on display at the RIBA exhibition ‘At Home in Britain’ in London. His work addresses many of today’s questions relating to matters such as densification, privacy and mobility.
