Ellen van der Wal to give lecture in Hamburg

14.11.2016 - Events

Mecanoo partner Ellen van de Wal will give a lecture at The International ArchitectureForum 2016 in Hamburg, Germany on Saturday 19 November. In her talk, Ellen will share her design vision and describe how the process of asking the right questions and involving users, clients and other stakeholders in the early design stages enhances both the process and the final outcome.

Ellen joined Mecanoo architecten in 1998 and is partner since 2008. She has played a crucial role in the design of a diverse range of critical acclaimed projects, such as the Hilton Hotel Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, the LEAN design driven Zaans Medical Centre and adjoining Care Boulevard in Zaandam, and the headquarters of the EU agency Eurojust in The Hague.

The theme for The International ArchitectureForum is ‘City in Motion – Architecture for Cities’. As the cultural and social engine for development, the city radiates out into the landscape. It is in a state of constant transformation, always reflecting the condition, the needs, the diversity and the potential of society. Tracing current examples of architecture and urban planning worldwide, the three-day conference will showcase state-of-the-art projects and the possibilities they present for the development of human society.

Other speakers include Julia Bolles-Wilson (Bolles+Wilson), Peter St. John (Caruso St. John Architects), and Johan Lundin (White Arkitekter).
