Francine Houben to give opening lecture at InDeSem

23.05.2017 - Events

The 2017 edition of InDeSem, the biennale International Design Seminar hosted at the faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment of the Delft University of Technology will start on Friday, May 26 with a lecture by Francine Houben.

In the lecture, she will present various Mecanoo projects which address key challenges for socially cohesive cities, stressing the importance of collaboration, innovation, and craftmanship. In the work of Mecanoo, each project is carefully considered in terms of its cultural setting, location and time. Moreover, they are designed to be prepared for predictable and unpredictable changes in our ways of communicating, living, working and consuming.

InDeSem was founded by students in 1962 and reinitiated by Herman Hertzberger in 1986. The programme consists of lectures, excursions, and a workshop, all organised around one specific theme. The seminar provides a platform for conversation and discussion about the current and future position of the architect in society. Other speakers of the 2017 edition include Kees Kaan, Sou Fujimoto, Floris Alkemade and Winy Maas.

The lecture starts at 15:30h. For more information about the program, please visit CROWDED International Design Seminar.
