Francine Houben to lecture on the Heerlen City Hall and Municipal Offices
On Sunday 29th May, Francine will give a lecture at the Heerlen City Hall organised by IBA Parkstad and in the context of the IBA Expo year. The realisation of our project is a key part of Heerlen’s ambitions to build a sustainable future. The design of the City Hall and Municipal Offices renovates the existing landmark completed in 1942 by architect Frits Peutz and creates a well-balanced composition with an elegant new extension for the offices. The buildings radiate a classic, timeless calm within the attractive, green hilly landscape of South Limburg. By making smart use of the topography, a number of functions of the compact Municipal Offices can be placed below ground level.
During the lecture, Francine will take us into the thinking behind and characteristics of the new building. The lecture will be followed by a guided tour from Luuk van Wijlick in order to get to know this new addition for the centre of Heerlen in an interactive way.
