Perth Museum wins Architizer A+Awards Jury Prize

12.06.2025 - Events, Project updates

We are delighted to announce that Perth Museum has been awarded the Jury Winner in the Museum category at the Architizer A+Awards 2025, a global awards programme celebrating the best architecture and spaces that inspire, elevate and improve our collective experience.

The recognition by the Architizer jury—comprising some of the world’s most influential voices in architecture and design—further affirms Perth Museum’s significance as a contemporary cultural destination rooted in heritage and storytelling. The project brings new life to Perth’s former City Hall, transforming it into a vibrant civic and cultural hub that places Scotland’s national story at its heart.

This latest award follows a series of high-profile accolades received over the past year, reinforcing the museum’s growing reputation on both national and international stages. These include:

  • Scottish Property Awards – Small Regeneration Project of the Year
  • World Architecture News Awards – Gold in the Publicly Accessible Buildings (under 10,000 m²)
  • Designverse Awards – Jury Grand Prize in the Space Category
  • Archello Awards – Public Vote Winner in the Cultural Building of the Year category
  • Scottish Structural Awards – Best Cultural or Event Space Project

The ambition behind the project was to reimagine the listed Edwardian City Hall as a dynamic new home for Perth’s outstanding museum collections, including the iconic Stone of Destiny. Our design combines careful restoration of the building’s historic features with bold contemporary interventions, creating an engaging spatial journey that bridges past and present.

From the civic piazza welcoming visitors into the new entrance, to the central exhibition hall under the dramatic glazed roof lantern, the museum offers a sequence of interconnected public spaces that foster exploration, interaction, and reflection. The integration of materials, light, and spatial contrast serves to support the museum’s narrative: one of resilience, identity, and cultural pride.

We are honoured by the continued recognition from the architectural community and thank the Architizer A+Awards jury for celebrating the design excellence of Perth Museum. Our sincere appreciation goes to the entire project team, including our valued partners and stakeholders, for their dedication and vision.
