Mecanoo has started work on the Innovatie Kwartier Den Bosch (IKDB), an ambitious new district adjacent to the train station that will become a leading hub for innovation and collaboration in the region.
Several entrepreneurs, start-ups, and scale-ups have already established themselves here. Over time, the area will evolve into a new destination for Den Bosch, connecting surrounding neighbourhoods, the historic city centre, the station area, and the waterfront.
At its core, IKDB is conceived as an interconnected urban system: an innovation corridor spanning the railway tracks, a green corridor linking the station to the waterfront through a sequence of parks, and a series of adaptable, multifunctional buildings designed to accommodate long-term flexibility and change.
The district will bring together businesses, students, researchers, cultural institutions, and residents, creating the conditions for exchange, experimentation, and new forms of growth. The first designs explore a contemporary interpretation of this former industrial landscape, transforming it into a place that fosters collaboration, discovery, and impact. A great collaboration with the Municipality of ’s-Hertogenbosch, alongside developer AM/Coebax, Arup, and Fabrications.
