Project description

Delft Made is located around the Staalpark, a communal green park with a small harbour that branches off from the canals in the city centre. The modular building structure contains a wide variety of housing types ranging from 'micro' apartments to duplex park-facing urban units, to a penthouse with a wide view of the city.

The Staalpark is a peaceful oasis and a beautiful addition to Delft's existing urban parks. Cycling and pedestrian routes connect the park with the surrounding neighbourhoods. The mixed-use building introduces a new urban and architectural typology in Delft with an expressive stepped silhouette and planted terraces that run like a green ribbon around and over the building.

The building steps down towards the west, lining up with the existing low-rise residential neighbourhood. It steps upwards towards the highway on the east, displaying the eye-catching Delft Made Showcase cut out of the facade and offering views straight through the building. High gateways provide light and air and offer views from the street towards the Staalpark.

The street environment is both lively and safe, with workspaces and terraces along the plinth. The park's greenery extends to the surrounding courtyards, thus strengthening the ecological connection. The iconic building is energy-neutral, circularly built and has a shared mobility concept, making it not only visually iconic but also a statement of sustainability.
